Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs)
A valid Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) should be in place at the start of your tenancy. A copy of your EPC can be found on the Scottish EPC Register.
EPCs are valid for 10 years. Under current legislation, most tenants will not be responsible for renewing an EPC during their tenancy except where it is agreed they can assign or sublet the interest in their property. Some buildings must have their EPC displayed in prominent position.
More guidance for EPC’s can be found on the Scottish Government website.
