Calculating your fee

Most planning applications must be accompanied by a planning application fee. Without a fee an application cannot be validated for assessment. The fee will depend on the type and scale of the proposed development.

Please use the ePlanning.scot fee calculator or refer to our fees charter.

A surcharge of 25% for retrospective planning applications came into force on 1 October 2022. If you are submitting a retrospective application it is important that you highlight this at the time of submission. The surcharge will not be calculated when an application is submitted on e-planning.

After your submission

Your application will normally be acknowledged within five working days. The letter will give you an expected date of when a decision will be made or let you know that further information is needed.

If your application may be more likely to be approved with amendments, we will write to you asking you to change it.
