We have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Health Instructor (Level 4) to join our Active Communities Team, supporting the delivery of our Falls Prevention Programme across Edinburgh Leisure venues. This is a rewarding role focused on empowering people, improving confidence and independence, and supporting long‑term health and wellbeing outcomes. Full-time and/or part-time available (15 - 35.75 hours per week).
What might a day in this role look like?
- Deliver specialist health and falls prevention sessions that are safe, engaging and tailored to participants’ individual needs.
- Plan and prepare sessions, including designing targeted exercise programmes and setting up spaces to support effective delivery.
- Support high risk participants through regular contact, encouraging attendance, confidence and long term engagement.
- Monitor and track participant progress using agreed pre and post assessments and questionnaires.
- Motivate and inspire participants to take an active role in improving their health, confidence and wellbeing.
- Create a welcoming and inclusive environment where participants feel supported, valued and empowered to achieve their goals.

What qualifications/skills are required?
- CIMSPA endorsed Level 4 Postural Stability Instructor (PSI) qualification, or a Level 3 qualification in Supporting Clients with Long Term Conditions (or equivalent), with a willingness to work towards Level 4.
- Experience delivering specialist or adapted physical activity sessions to people with a range of abilities and health conditions.
- Strong communication and motivational skills, with the ability to listen, empathise and adapt your approach to individual needs.
- Proactive and solution focused mindset, able to identify barriers to participation and support participants to overcome them.
- Caring, patient and reliable approach, with a strong commitment to delivering high quality participant experiences.
- Full driving licence, to support delivery across multiple Edinburgh Leisure venues.
