Senior Summer Domestic Assistant/Cleaner - The University of Edinburgh - 19521

Environment: 

Accommodation, Catering and Events (ACE) provides catered and self-catered residential accommodation for over 10,000 students, including community and welfare support through its Residence Life service. We also operate 17 cafes and a range of other catering products to students and staff across the University estate. Under our commercial brand, the University of Edinburgh Hospitality and Events Collection, we deliver hotel accommodation options to around 200,000 guests each year plus an extensive selection of conference, catering and event services to over 2,000 events.

What might a day in this role look like?

You will be involved in distributing tasks to our teams of Domestic Assistants/Cleaners and checking that our accommodation and facilities meet our high standards of cleanliness. You will also be responsible for servicing and ensuring our bedrooms and communal areas are cleaned, set up and serviced to hotel standards. Assisting in the distribution and counting of linen, as well as setting up and maintaining supplies required to service rooms. Working hours are 35 hours per week, on a 5 over 7 basis including weekends and varied shift patterns typically between 8am - 6pm.

What qualifications/skills are required?

You should possess excellent organisational skills and have previous experience in housekeeping or hospitality. A keen eye for detail and a passion for delivering excellent service are essential. Outstanding customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide range of colleagues and customers are required. Experience in workload allocation to team members is essential. Supervisory skills are desirable.
