Council house repairs

Covid-19 update October 2020

In March, following the outbreak of Covid-19 our Housing Property service moved to a Critical Repairs service. This was to reduce contact, protect tenants and colleagues and stop the transmission of the virus.

Emergency repairs are only carried out where

  • there is a serious risk to health and safety
  • there is a serious risk to the structure of the property
  • the property is not secure.

Our colleagues have been trained to keep you and themselves safe during the work and around your home. They will try and stay two-meters away from you and your family. Please make sure you respect the two-meter rule and move to another room if you can.

Non-emergency repairs

From 5 October 2020, in line with the Scottish Government guidance and maintaining safe working practices, we will start offering some non-emergency repairs. These repairs will be offered on a

  • full day
  • AM
  • PM

appointment basis. Appointments can be booked, depending on enough staff, up to 4 weeks in advance.

When you request a repair, you will be told how long it will take us to come to your home.

Demand for emergency repairs are high and we ask you to consider this before requesting a non-emergency repair.

We will continue to support our most vulnerable tenants and prioritise emergency repairs first. We retain the right to withdraw non-emergency repairs if this becomes necessary to protect our most vital services.

Non-emergency repairs include

  • dripping taps
  • cosmetic repairs
  • repair kitchen unit
  • draught-proofing
  • repair internal bathroom door lock.
