Requests to form a community council
If your community currently does not have a community council, we can work with you to set one up. You will need to get at least 20 people in the area to support the request. Please contact us and we will let you know about how to go about doing this. Email
Portobello Community Council
People in Portobello are now setting up a community council for Portobello.
Declaration of Acceptance
If you are a successful candidate, we recommend that you sign a declaration of acceptance at the first community council meeting.
This states that you accept the office and undertake that you will fulfil the duties of a community councillor. In doing so you will comply with the code of conduct contained in the City of Edinburgh Council Scheme for Community Councils.

The next city-wide community elections are scheduled for 2029. We will update this page with more information in 2029 or earlier if the date changes.
