Wellbeing walks - Health in Mind

These are gentle and accessible walks that help participants to connect with others and improve wellbeing for people who may be feeling stressed, worried or struggling with low mood.

Dr Bells Mindful Moments

This mindfulness group is an opportunity for parents with children under five in the Leith area to explore different mindfulness techniques and exercises. Allowing them to take time for themselves and learn ways to protect their mental health and wellbeing. Sessions take place on Mondays. Childcare is provided.

Dr Bells Mindfulness Dips

These mindfulness dips aim to support parents' and carers’ mental health and well-being through cold water swimming (no previous swimming experience needed). The group allows parents to have time to themselves and gain support from their peers and Dr Bell staff. Informal chats take place around a fire afterwards with a cuppa. Please bring a swimming costume, all other equipment is provided. Sessions take place at Wardie Bay, Newhaven. Transport and crèche spaces can be provided.

A group looking at nature and plants through printmaking techniques and using the prints as part of a handmade book journal. An 8-week course, free for people living in EH15/ EH16 on Tuesdays from 12.30 pm to 3.00 pm, starting 23rd of April 2024.  Limited spaces available.

Bridgend Farmhouse

Bridgend Farmhouse runs many cultural, craft and activity sessions for adults
Such as on Wednesdays - a walking group at 10 am,
a lady's wellbeing group, an arts and crafts session between 2 pm and 4 pm,
creative writing from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm,
and woodcraft from 5.30 pm to 8.30 pm.

Gardening and cooking sessions are also available. Sessions are available at the farmhouse. Sessions are free, and donations for some groups are welcome.

Seen and Heard

Seen and Heard is a cross-art form project for adults led by composer Jay Capperauld, musician Lewis Banks and artist-musician Kirsty Matheson.

For six weekly sessions, offered at regular points throughout the year, participants have the opportunity to explore their creativity through a series of activities that blend music-making with art-making. Ambling Adventures is a free group activity that meets for a walk in Holyrood Park to enjoy nature. It gives the option to have a friendly cuppa and chat at the end. 
The group meets on Thursdays at 10:30 am outside The Scottish Parliament (EH99 1SP, opposite the Queen’s Gallery) and the activity ends at noon. It is free and suitable for all.

Out and About - Walking for wellbeing

Walking for Wellbeing is a group that meets for a walk around Inch Park and the local area. It allows connecting with others and nature in a friendly environment.
The group meets on Wednesdays at 9 am outside Inch House Community Centre (225 Gilmerton Road, EH16 5UF). It is free, open to everyone and baby/buggy friendly. Just bring warm and waterproof layers to be out whatever the weather is.

Eco-therapy Social Group 

This is a free, mindful weekly group run by Health All Around, that uses nature to promote mental health and wellbeing. The group meets in different green spaces in the Gorgie area.

B Healthy Together

This project is based in and around Broomhouse, Sighthill and Parkhead. Sessions include seated yoga, chair exercise, buggy gym, walking groups, yoga Groups and Stress relief. Cooking classes and ‘Good Food for Little Ones’ infant nutrition classes run for new parents. Creative groups such as knitting, art, and community gardens also run. All activities are free.

Edible Estates Weekly community garden sessions 

Participants can take part in food growing and help maintain the gardens in a friendly, welcoming space at 

  • Greenway Garden (Next to Michael’s shop) on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 9 am to 12 pm,
