For information and support for relatives and family friends who care for children because their parents are unable to do so visit the Kinship carers webpage, email at kinshipsupport@edinburgh.gov.uk or phone 0131 529 2588 between Monday and Thursday from 9 am to 5 pm and Friday from 9 am to 3:30 pm leave a message and we will call back.

Big Hearts Kinship care support for families

Big Hearts Kinship Care service offers free advice on parenting strategies and financial and practical support from their family support officer.

Big Hearts Befriending

Big Hearts provides befriending support for children and young people aged five to 16 years, living in kinship care / experiencing a high level of social isolation.

Kinship Care Mentoring

YMCA Edinburgh provides one-to-one mentoring for young people aged 8 to 14 years in a kinship care arrangement. The young person will be matched with a volunteer mentor and meet weekly to enjoy activities in the community, build a trusting relationship and meet any goals they set.

Kinsfolk Carers

A relaxed supportive group for kinship carers. The group meets in local venues in the Leith area every Thursday at noon.
