Events and activities
You can visit the Knife Angel at the Kirkgate at the bottom of Leith Walk from 1 to 30 September 2026.
The partners are also running events and workshops in Edinburgh to promote peace and raise awareness of the devastating impact of violence and knife crime.
Opening Ceremony - 1 September, time to be confirmed
Join us for the official launch of the Knife Angel in Edinburgh with local leaders and community representatives to spread the message of peace and unity.
Community and education workshops
Our schools, youth centres and communities are hosting workshops throughout September to help people (especially young people) understand the dangers of knife crime and how they can help prevent it.
Police Scotland
Police Scotland school engagement officers will be working with schools and young people across Edinburgh throughout September. This is part of ongoing work with young people to prevent violence before it starts and follows on from an event in June where police officers and Fearless invited over 150 young people from Edinburgh schools to share their views on violence, weapon carrying and keeping their communities safe. The Local Policing crime prevention team will also have stalls at community workshops and police officers will also be providing local retailers with advice and guidance around the sale of knives.
Balisong Theatre production - 15 to 25 September
This production, which sheds light on the important issue of knife crime involving younger people and its impact on our communities, will tour secondary schools in Edinburgh.
Closing Ceremony - 25 September, time to be confirmed
The Knife Angel’s stay in Edinburgh will culminate in a reflective closing ceremony. We will celebrate what we have achieved, recognise local champions of anti-knife initiatives and discuss how we continue to reduce violence and knife crime in Edinburgh.
