Thinking of all the families who have been affected by horrific knife crime.
I say no to knife crime
Knives are tools and don’t kill on its own. Let this knife angel educate people how to use these tools for work and not for killing.
This is very sad...But a very ponient sculpture...A waste of life..We should all reflect on this... Life is very precious.
I never personally knew John McNab, however learning about his passing and how much he was loved has really opened my eyes about knife crimes. I was passing on Wednesday 2nd September 2026 at around 6:30pm and I happened to see the incredible turnout that John had to remember him one year after his passing.
The Knife angel really has made an everlasting impact and I hope it continues to do so.
My thoughts go out to anyone affected by knife crime.

I am film maker and followed the journey of the angel, when it was in Sunderland . I am currently making a small film in Edinburgh. So I have been travelling up to Edinburgh to carry on with the project The sculpture has moved me and made feel strong emotions such as sorrow. Just the thought of 100,000 knives used in crime has shocked me. I met lovley Lisa who is dedicating her life to make change. So I had to do something to make a difference. Knife crime needs to stop. I shot footage of word ‘Why’ that to me says everything such short word with so much power.
Knife crime is a tragedy in multiple ways - to the victims and their families and for society as a whole as it brings home how we are failing to protect and provide opportunities for many young people, particularly those who experience difficult community and family circumstances. I hope that if enough people say NO to knife crime we can create a kinder, more compassionate society
So sorry for your loss sending respect and empathy from Ireland
Remembering you Justin. Forever 14. You had your whole life ahead of you. Life is so bloody cruel.
Peace to everyone and safety for all our young

So sad but beautiful
My uncle was murdered in Leith in 1991 and nothing has changed. Stabbings that could have been prevented especially with offenders being out on bail the law needs changed.
Save lives say no to knifes
Very emotional moment
Very powerful symbol, rest in peace all the victims ❤️
The loss of a good friend to a fatal knife attack shook me to my core in December 2009. The impact of a moment of rage has left a family torn apart by grief, friends wondering what would have come of a promising young lad of only 16, and a community who felt betrayed by one of their own. The Knife Angel has been a painful reminder of the prevalence of knife crime today, and I am thankful for the opportunity to recognise and approach the topic with younger people in schools and homes up and down the country. To the people who surrendered their weapons, thank you for showing humility and humanity, and to those who have been affected by knife crime, know that your loved ones legacy carry on in your advocacy for safer streets and better education on the cowardice of carrying a weapon and choosing to use it.
In loving memory of Dale Bennett xx
Seeing this angel in my city was saddening and beautiful in measure. Seeing something so graceful out of sharp objects made to cause pain is such a powerful message and is a much needed reminder. Seeing the messages inscribed by the victims family was heartbreaking.
Sobering and powerful. Thank you for bringing it to our community.
Incredibly moving.
Dramatic and thought provoking statue! So many knives and machetes - violent weapons transformed into a plea for peace and love.
Pray that responses of all who see it may together result in the transformation of lives from fear to love.
