Environment:
Accommodation, Catering and Events (ACE) provides catered and self-catered residential accommodation for over 10,000 students, including community and welfare support through its Residence Life service. We also operate 17 cafes and a range of other catering products to students and staff across the University estate. Under our commercial brand, the University of Edinburgh Hospitality and Events Collection, we deliver hotel accommodation options to around 200,000 guests each year plus an extensive selection of conference, catering and event services to over 2,000 events.
What might a day in this role look like?
This is a vital leadership role within the wider catering team, with significant responsibility to deliver successful events and ensure our long-term success and sustainability. You will hold a pivotal role in developing the highest possible levels of service and customer engagement.
You will lead a team in the delivery of catering, events, food and beverage services by providing daily operational guidance, ensuring that standard operating procedures are followed, and being accountable for the quality of service provided. Working hours are 35 hours per week, 5 over 7 days including weekends.
What qualifications/skills are required?
- Proven experience of supervising people and teams to deliver successful events in a hospitality, catering or events environment
- A strong team player who can work closely with team members to exceed customer expectations
- Outstanding organisation skills and the ability to prioritise your time and help keep others on track
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to communicate with a wide range of customers
- Ability to effectively communicate and coach others to meet our standard operating procedures, operational health and safety requirements and core ACE values
- Self-motivation and passion for developing your career
- A full driving licence valid for driving on UK roads is essential.
