Environment:
Accommodation, Catering and Events (ACE) provides catered and self-catered residential accommodation for over 10,000 students, including community and welfare support through its Residence Life service. We also operate 17 cafes and a range of other catering products to students and staff across the University estate. Under our commercial brand, the University of Edinburgh Hospitality and Events Collection, we deliver hotel accommodation options to around 200,000 guests each year plus an extensive selection of conference, catering and event services to over 2,000 events.
What might a day in this role look like?
The role will be based at our largest catering unit, the John McIntyre Conference Centre located within Pollock Halls. The Centre is a 500-seater buffet style restaurant that provides approximately 28,000 meals per week during our student period and breakfast, lunch and dinner to our commercial guests year-round. You will support the operational service delivery to our students and commercial guests throughout the year, working as a member of a team involved in cleaning all kitchen areas.
What qualifications/skills are required?
No experience is necessary, although on the job training will be provided and you must be able to learn by experience. Training is given in the operation of cleaning equipment and a basic food hygiene qualification is to be achieved within 6 months.
