Trainee Project Controller - Planex Controls - 18595
Contract: Permanent, Salary: £24,500 - £28,000 per annum, Closing Date: Friday 3 July

Planex Controls is a UK-based Project Management & Controls consultancy supporting complex engineering and construction projects. We provide project controls, planning, construction management and commissioning support to enable clients to improve delivery certainty across cost, schedule, HSE and quality. We work across regulated and capital-intensive sectors, supporting project teams with practical delivery expertise and scalable resourcing solutions.
Environment:
Office based in central Edinburgh, working hours are 35 - 40 hours per week.
What might a day in this role look like?
- Working within software packages such as Primavera p6, Microsoft Project, Navisworks, and a range of different engineering applications
- Updating spreadsheets, trackers and project records
- Preparing reports and document packs
- Taking meeting notes and tracking actions
- Chasing information from clients, suppliers and project teams
- Keeping files, folders and documents organised
- Supporting diary management and follow ups
- Helping maintain CRM and contact records
- Assisting with application for payment, invoices, purchase orders and basic commercial admin
- Supporting project planning, cost tracking and reporting tasks over time
- Helping improve internal processes and templates
- Working on tender packages.
What will I learn?
- You will receive on the job training working directly with the company director.
- Working within a small company you will gain a diverse experience in multiple job roles which you can later choose to specialise in one specific role, dependent on company requirements at that time. These roles include Quantity Surveying, Project Management, Construction management, Project Planning, Sales Engineering and more.
- You will also learn how a business operates and what is involved.
What qualifications/skills are required?
- This role doesn’t have strict qualification requirements. Ideally, candidates will have some sort of mathematics qualification which will be of a high grade. What matters most is that you are good with numbers, quick to learn, well organised, confident using a computer, and keen to build a career in project support, project controls or business administration. This role would suit a school leaver, college leaver, graduate, career changer or someone already working in admin who wants to move into project support.
