Provision

No rolling programmes: currently only funded/fixed-term courses.

Elementary/ beginner level:

  • ESOL and digital skills
  • Get Ready for Work
  • Health and Social Care

Activities

ESOL for employability (health and social care)

For pre-intermediate and above (level 3+), it will be fine for learners to join the course a week or two in. Each course:

  • is free to join and will be delivered online (Zoom),
  • consists of two classes of two hours each week (that is  four hours per week)
  • gives free access to WEAs Canvas - virtual learning nevironment (VLE) so learners can study and learn online between classes
  • learners will need access to a digital device, an email address and data.

Elementary level ESOL (online)

This is a free course running on Zoom during July. The course is suitable for Elementary or National 2 level learners who:

  • want to make the most of their social life and work life in Scotland
  • would like more opportunity to practice speaking and listening
  • are living in Edinburgh and able to attend six hours per week during July 2022
  • would like to meet new people, improve their confidence and have fun!

Intermediate ESOL for employability (online)

Would you like to improve your employment opportunities? Are you interested in learning more about working in a variety of industry sectors including care, health, hospitality and finance? This is a free course running on Zoom during July. This course is suitable for ESOL learners who

  • want to improve their job search, CVs, applications and interview skills
  • would like to meet new people, improve their confidence and have fun!
  • are living in Edinburgh and can attend six hours per week during July 2022
  • have SCQF/ SQA Level 3 or 4 English (pre-intermediate to intermediate).
