Phase 1 construction work
Construction will start on 2 December 2025 and we expect to finish in summer 2026.
Balfour Beatty will be carrying out the work.
We will provide further detail and dates nearer to the project start date on this page and will contact local businesses and residents directly.
This phase includes
- Torwood path – widening, surfacing and lighting
- South Gyle Access (between Bankhead Drive and Flassches yard) - new segregated cycleway. Shared use crossing at the entrance to Forrester High School
- Bankhead Drive / South Gyle Access Junction – new and improved pedestrian and cycle crossings
- Bankhead Avenue (between Bankhead Drive and Edinburgh College/Napier University entrance) – new segregated cycleway, side road crossing and zebra crossing
As with any construction work, some disruption and noise is inevitable, but we will be working with local stakeholders to reduce impact as much as possible.
