Free school meals in P6 and P7
If you don’t meet the conditions for school grants but you
- get the Scottish Child Payment
- have a child in primary 6 or 7
you can get free school meals. You can’t get school holiday payments, free milk or a school clothing grant.
Social Security Scotland tell us which families get the Scottish Child Payment. We use this information to award free school meals to all eligible P6 and P7 children.
Awards will be valid until your child leaves primary school. This means
- P7 children will get free school meals until July 2027
- P6 children will get free school meals until July 2028.
Your award will end earlier if you stop getting the Scottish Child Payment. You must tell us if this happens.
