Information for coach operators

How we manage coaches coming into the city

The coach industry is important to Edinburgh's tourism and hospitality, as well as helping us achieve our City Mobility Plan goals to reduce car journeys and improve the city's air quality.

We need to carefully balance the needs of coach passengers and everyone else who uses our streets. These priorities are set out in Our Future Streets Strategy.

We are developing a coach plan to help manage

  • the routes coaches take through the city
  • where they can drop off and pick up
  • where they park.

This will help coach operators, making sure they can travel through the city safely and improve the experience of their passengers.

The plan will improve facilities for coaches, including drop off and pick up, as well as parking and set out any changes to coach routes, especially through the city centre.

We have been allocated £100,000 from the city's Visitor Levy fund to help us implement the plan.
