Parking and routing
We recognise the value coaches bring to the local economy and in helping us achieve our City Mobility Plan goals. We are working with the industry and stakeholders to achieve Coach Friendly city status for Edinburgh.
We are also seeking to deliver Our Future Streets, carefully balancing the needs for coach passengers and other users of our streets, across the themes of placemaking, liveability, accessibility and prioritising sustainable modes of transport including walking, wheeling, cycling, buses and trams.
Parking
Coaches cannot park in on street pay and display bays and may only use dedicated coach parking bays. Read information about parking prices and times for coaches and register for the RingGo App
Drop-off and pick-up
Stopping to drop off or pick up passengers is generally allowed on single or double yellow lines, provided there are no loading restrictions indicated by stripes on the kerb and signage. However, we are encouraging coaches to use designated areas for drop-off and pick-up, to reduce impacts, wherever possible.
Dedicated coach drop-off and pick-up is currently available for free on street for up to a maximum stay of 30 minutes, at
-
Castle Terrace, Monday to Saturday from 8.30am to 6.30pm, and Sunday from 12.30pm to 6.30pm.
Coaches may use Park and Rides for drop-off and pick-up but must confirm availability ahead of travel by emailing
Medium stay parking
Medium stay coach parking is available on street for up to a maximum stay of 10 hours, at
- Regent Road, Monday to Saturday from 8.30am to 6.30pm and Sundays 12.30pm to 6.30pm
- Inverleith Place, Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 5.30pm.
Coach parking costs £9.80 per hour.
Long stay parking
We don't provide long stay on street parking. However there are two private long stay 24 hour coach parks in Edinburgh:
Events parking
Coaches may be apply for temporary parking facilities, via Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders (TTRO) for events such as sports fixtures, the Festival or rail replacement. View or apply for a TTRO.
Routing
Access within the city centre for coach drop-off and pick-up will generally be maintained. Upcoming street-space re-allocation projects will introduce restrictions on certain routes and we expect that routing and access arrangements may change. We will communicate any proposed changes to affected stakeholders. Our Future Streets provides a framework for future general traffic (including coach) routing.
