Inclusive Edinburgh

Colleague networks

Working in partnership with managers and other employees, the networks' aim to

  • create a more inclusive work environment
  • tackle barriers to progression
  • help develop strong productive working relationships.

We have five colleague networks set up to support colleagues who share a common characteristic.

Women’s network

The purpose of the Women's network is to build a community to inspire, empower and support each other and get the most out of work and our careers.

BAME Network

BAME aims to

  • act as a voice for black, asian and white ethnic minority employees
  • engage in a dialogue with senior management and across the organisation to ensure that the voices of BAME and white ethnic minorities employees are heard and that action is taken.

SPARC network

SPARC stands for 'Supporting People’s Abilities Regardless of Circumstance'. Their aim is to give colleagues with disabilities and long-term health conditions a stronger voice and a more inclusive and supportive environment.

Sustainability network

The Sustainability network aims to build a community to inspire, empower and support colleagues to be more sustainable in their work and careers. Members will help shape colleague behaviours and can be powerful agents of change in tackling climate emergency. They will also support the Council and Edinburgh reach its target of net zero emissions by 2030.

STRIDE Network

The STRIDE network welcomes all colleagues who identify as part of the LGBT+ community and as supportive allies. They're committed to celebrating the diversity of LGBT+ identities and raising awareness of the issues that LGBT+ people face in the workplace and wider society.
