Lunch menus for schools

The catering service is committed to supply healthy nutritionally balanced lunches to the 18,000 pupils we serve daily. We use local suppliers to provide our fresh fruit, fresh meat, vegetables, bakery goods and milk.

We complete an annual parental survey to incorporate feedback into our new menus each year, last years survey showed 82% of parents thought our menu was good or excellent.

The current menu will come in to effect on the 20 April and run up to summer holiday’s at the end of June. It will run on a four-weekly cycle. Please see the menu rotation calendar or contact the school’s catering manager to find out which week your child’s school is on.

Food for Life is a nationally recognised scheme set up by the Soil Association to improve standards in the food we eat. Edinburgh schools were awarded the Bronze award in 2011 and have been reaccredited each year. This means all school lunches in The City of Edinburgh Council schools, are nutritious, seasonal, have low food miles, use local suppliers and do not contain any unnecessary additives.

The cost of a school meal deal is currently £2.25 in primary and £2.70 in secondary.
