Drylaw shopping centre improvements

The Council is looking at how the public realm around Drylaw shopping centre on Ferry Road could be improved.

The improvements would make the area safer and more accessible for pedestrians.

AtkinsRéalis has prepared a concept design for improvements to the public realm. These include

  • widening pavements to create more pedestrian space
  • creating informal crossings for pedestrians to use
  • improving the appearance of the area through planters, lighting, etc.
  • general repair

On 13 May 2025, the Council's Housing, Homelessness and Fair Work Committee agreed to allocate £168,102 towards the improvements. Detailed designs have been prepared by AtkinsRéalis - give your views on the designs. The consultation will run to 8 October 2025.

An in-person drop-in community and business engagement session will take place at Drylaw shopping centre on Thursday 4th September 2025 from 4pm to 7pm. If you would like to discuss the designs with the team, please visit the stall near Farmfoods.
