Food banks
A food bank provides emergency food support and is intended to support a household over a crisis period. They also provide personal hygiene items, as well as nappies and baby wipes.
Food bank services usually operate on a referral basis. A small number are open access and some are for particular groups, such as, for families whose children attend a particular school.
To be referred to a food bank, please contact the Scottish Welfare Fund support line on 0131 529 5299 or your support worker. If you are not working with any support organisations already, you can find a list of recommended support services who can also make these referrals on worryingaboutmoney.co.uk/edinburgh.
