Building Warrant advice
Before you carry out any building work you should check if you need a building warrant. The technical handbooks cover this in more detail.
Some works that may not need a warrant are
- new windows
- replacing features like for like
- installing thermal insulation
- balanced flues
- lining a flue
- conservatories, porches, greenhouses, car ports and covered areas
- detached garages and garden sheds.
You can find out more information about doing building works or home improvements by using the Scottish Government's guide.
