Garden waste collection

Direct debit

By choosing to sign up for garden waste collections by direct debit you can register once, then relax knowing that you won’t miss another registration window as long as you have sufficient funds available when payment is due.

If you choose to register for an annual direct debit it will automatically renew your subscription each year. The first payment will be taken within seven days of you registering and future payments will be taken on or shortly after 1 August each year. This date is the same regardless of when you first register.

When you set up a direct debit, you will receive several notifications, as it progresses through the banking systems. These will advise you that the direct debit is being set up, that it will renew annually and when the payment is taken. You do not need to respond to these.

If your billing address is outside of the Edinburgh boundary, you'll need to phone during the registration window.

If you have registered for direct debit, you can cancel future payments any time up until three working days before the next payment is due to be taken. You can do this by cancelling your direct debit mandate through your bank. If you have access to online banking, most apps will allow you to cancel direct debit payments on your phone, tablet or laptop.

Alternatively, send a request with your details through our contact waste form or phone

up until 15 working days before the next payment.

If you cancel within 14 days of a payment being taken you will receive a full refund. After you have received confirmation from us that your direct debit has been cancelled you should also inform your bank.
