Edinburgh Street Design

Edinburgh Street Design guidance

Edinburgh's new Street Design guidance was approved by the Transport and Environment Committee on 25 August 2015 and referred to the Planning Committee on 3 October for approval.

What the guidance does

The guidance brings together previously separate guidance on street design and has been put in place to help deliver a world-class network of vibrant, safe, attractive, effective and enjoyable streets in Edinburgh.

Who the guidance is for

This guidance sets out our design expectations and aspirations for streets within the city.  It can be used by anyone who

  • plans
  • alters
  • designs
  • manages
  • maintains
  • constructs streets.

The technical guidance documents, known as the factsheets, will be available later this year.
