Davidson’s Mains Roundabout

Following on from the results of a public consultation in January 2026, we are now starting work to improve the Davidson’s Mains roundabout at the junction of Main Street, Cramond Road South and Quality Street. The work will improve safety for pedestrians including those with mobility issues and cyclists.

Working in stages

Work will be done in two stages starting from 7 April 2026 for approximately 8 weeks.

During phase one our contractor will work Monday to Friday, typically between 8am and 5pm and Monday to Friday, 10pm to 6am during phase two.

Phase 1 - Roundabout – Junction of Cramond Road South, Main Street and Quality Street. Estimated 6 weeks

Pavement widening and zebra crossings: Parking suspensions and road closures, temporary traffic lights.

Phase 2 - Cramond Road South – from Barnton Avenue to roundabout. Estimated 2 weeks

Road resurfacing: Road closure 24/7, Traffic diversion.

Access

  • Pedestrians will be able to access the area at all times.
  • Restrictions will be in place for vehicles at times during road resurfacing, apart from emergency vehicles which will have access at all times.
  • We will use temporary parking restrictions to make sure the work is done safely, with signs showing details of specific restrictions.
  • We will have a Council officer on-site during the work to monitor progress and provide assistance and information to residents and businesses.

Changes to bus stops

Some bus stops will be closed and temporary stops will be put in place. Their locations will be displayed at the existing bus stops and shelters prior to each phase.
