Road resurfacing and pedestrian crossing improvements
Update to project - work will start on the Ferry Road west approach to the roundabout, not the Crewe Road South approach as previously stated.
We will start work on Monday 17 August to improve pedestrian crossings and resurface roads on and around the roundabout.
To reduce disruption, work will be carried out overnight and is expected to last for around 12 weeks, Monday to Friday between 7.30pm to 6.30am.
We will do the work in phases with temporary closures on Crewe Road South, Crewe Road North and the Ferry Road west approach. We will only close one approach at a time. Please note that only one of these approaches will be closed at any one time.
Phase 1 will start with the closure of the west approach to the roundabout on Ferry Road. Please note that we had previously said we would start on the Crewe Road South approach but have changed this to support Lothian Bus services and reduce the impact on journey times.
- During these temporary road closures, we will use temporary traffic lights to manage traffic on the other four approaches.
- Access to residential properties and businesses will be maintained wherever possible and practical.
- A signed diversion route will be in place for each of the closed approaches.
- Emergency vehicle and pedestrian access will be maintained.
The contractor will make every effort to reduce disruption, however, some noise and disruption will be unavoidable during working hours. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience while we deliver these long-term improvements.
