Barrington Stoke

Local publishers Barrington Stoke specialise in books for children and young adults with reading difficulties.

Quick Reads / Vista books

"Quick Reads" are short, easy to read books by famous authors. They are ideal for adults who are less confident in their reading skills. There is a similar series of books, with a Scottish theme, called Vista.

Journey for Learning books

These are for adults starting out on their reading journey. There are three levels

You can browse the collections at Muirhouse, Craigmillar, Gilmerton, Leith, Sighthill and Central Libraries.

The Six Book Challenge

Participants read six books and record their reading in a diary. It is perfect for people learning English as a second language or for adults discovering reading for the first time.

As well as books people can read magazines, newspapers, websites and even digital games.

The six book challenge runs annually from January to June.
