Census 2022

Results from the 2022 Census

The National Records of Scotland has completed the Census 2022. This important process helps us build a detailed picture of our society by officially counting every person and household in the country. The census asks questions about individuals, their households, and their homes. In doing so, it helps to build a detailed snapshot of our society.

Now, the National Records of Scotland is releasing detailed data in phases, as organised by local authority, ward, and data zone levels across four key census themes:

1. Demography, Ethnicity and Identity
2. Health, Disability and Unpaid Care
3. Housing
4. Education, Labour Market and Travel to Work

How can the new data help

This local data provides a detailed understanding of our citizens. We can use it to develop targeted policies, strategies and plans. It will guide us in designing services and evaluating funding needs to meet the city's future requirements.

For that reason, we’ve created new infographics comparing the 2011 and 2022 census data at the city level, highlighting key findings from each theme. Please note that new questions in the 2022 Census do not have comparable data from the 2011 Census.
