Storm Floris
Following yesterday's amber warning, we have a little residual impact on Council services and facilities.
Council facilities and services
Household recycling centres
The centres have re-opened and you can book appointments as normal
Pest control appointments
The service is running as normal. We have contacted all customers to rebook their cancelled appointment.
Council parks and greenspaces
Princes Street Gardens iwill be closed on Tuesday 5 August to allow for debris to be cleared up.
Council venues and buildings
Our buildings and facilties are open as normal except
- cemeteries - Comely Bank and Mortonhall cemeteries have re-opened. Warriston is still closed for an assessment from the forestry team. There has been some damage in Greyfriars, Comely Bank, Corstorphine Hill and Rosebank which is currently cordoned off, awaiting assessment for repair work
- Fox Covert Early Years Centre still has an issue with water supply. Most families have been offered alternative placements at Corstorphine Nursery.
Fallen trees
If you're concerned about fallen or dangerous, overhanging branches or trees, please report them to our forestry service immediately. Call us on 0131 200 2000 or contact us @edinhelp. We will respond to reports of large fallen trees and prioritise any that posed a potential danger to the public or are blocking roads and paths. Any not posing any immediate risk will be dealt with later.
Ingliston park and ride
There has been some storm damage to some roof at the park and ride building. While a small area has been cordoned off, the park and ride is operating as normal.
Festivals events and visitor attractions
If you are attending any events or performances, please check direct with the festival or event producer in case any venues continue to be closed:
- Edinburgh Festival Fringe
- Edinburgh International Festival
- Circus Hub on the Meadows.
