School allocations for P1 and S1 places - August 2026
School placements initial allocations - 13 March 2026
On 13 March 2026 we completed the first round of school allocations for P1 and S1 places starting in August 2026.
This includes decisions on
- non-catchment placing requests
- catchment Roman Catholic school requests
- requests to change the preferred catchment secondary school.
All requests received by 28 February 2026 have been answered. Decisions are notified by email.
Places in non-denominational catchment schools
If you registered your child for P1 at your catchment non-denominational primary school, you should have already received an email confirming this place. Contact the school if you have any enquiries about this.
If you have not registered your child for P1 yet, please contact us as soon as possible.
P7 children due to go to high school were allocated a provisional place in their catchment high school. These places have already been confirmed by letter.
Schools will contact parents to confirm places and arrange inductions in May or June 2026.
All catchment places are reserved on the understanding children will be resident at the same address by the start of term in August 2026.
Turned down requests
If your request has been turned down, please read through your decision notice carefully. You can
- appeal against our decision to the Placing in Schools Appeal Committee
- ask us for a place in an alternative school which has available places.
