Redevelopment of Pennywell town centre

Over time, the former Muirhouse Shopping Centre at Pennywell Road had become dilapidated and was no longer fit for purpose. We purchased the centre to redevelop it into a civic square with new homes, shops, and community facilities.

The project is being delivered in phases to ensure there is an essential retail provision for the duration of the project.

We appointed Robertson Partnership Homes to deliver the project. Demolition of the former shopping centre commenced in late 2017.

Phase 1 was completed in 2019 with 12 mid market flats, a small convenience store, a dentist and a chemist.

Phase 2 completed in September 2022 with 40 flats for mid market rent and 7 retail units.  A number of the originial retailers are returning to the new development including Greggs.  The new Greggs store opened in mid November 2022.  The new Ladbrokes opened in March 2023.  Fit out of other units is ongoing.

The third phase of demolition and redevelopment will commence in 2024, with a further 82 homes for social rent and 3 retail units built on the site of 39-47a Pennywell Road and the remainder of Pennywell Court..

The town centre will also include a new community hub including a nursery, library and an improved arts centre. Find more information on Pennywell hub development.
