Removal of a disabled person parking places

You can request the removal of a disabled person parking places if it is no longer being used by Blue Badge holders. The decision to remove or keep disabled person parking places will be based on the information collected during an investigation.  We will carry out street surveys on different days and times in the vicinity of the bay to ascertain the availability of parking places.  We will also determine the number of Blue Badge holders in the area who may be eligible to use this disabled person parking places.

If we agree to the removal then the process will begin. This includes a consultation period so residents can raise any issues or queries with the proposal. This process can take up to eighteen months to complete, or longer if objections are received.

Relocating a DPPP

You can request an existing disabled person parking placesbe investigated for relocation. If the relocation is agreed the statutory process will be progressed which entails a consultation period whereby residents can raise any issues or queries with the proposal. This process can take up to eighteen months to complete, or longer if objections are received.

Repainting a DPPP

If a disabled person parking places has become faded, you can apply to have the bay repainted.

Resizing a DPPP

A disabled person parking places will be installed in accordance with the Disabled Persons Parking Places (Scotland) Act 2009 and the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions Act 2002 to a minimum specification directed by legislation which is 6.6m in length by 2.7m in width. However, there is a flexibility for a larger disabled person parking placesto be installed if is required by the necessities of the Blue Badge applicant.

In some cases, it may not be possible to mark the bay to be the above-mentioned dimensions. Legislation permits the Council to adjust the bay to a suitable size and dimensions to accommodate specific requests.
