Teachers at Sciennes Primary School would be forgiven for seeing double as it welcomes three sets of twins to primary one.
The school is welcoming the most twins to primary one of any school in Edinburgh.
The siblings are joining over 4000 little ones today as they take their first steps into education and start primary one at one of the 91 primary schools in Edinburgh.
There are 187 classes of primary ones starting today after the summer holidays while 4335 young people will start first year of high school.
Convenor for Education, Children and Families, James Dalgleish said:
Today is a huge milestone for thousands of children and young people across the city.
Whether they are taking their first steps into education in primary one, or entering their last year of high school, the children and young people will be supported throughout their journey by our fantastic staff.
All of our schools are full of dedicated, passionate and hard-working teachers and support staff who prioritise the needs of pupils to make sure that school is an enriching, formative and memorable experience, that sets our young people up for a lifetime of success.
There is much to celebrate as we look ahead to the new school year. As families and school staff get back into the familiar school routine, I hope that young people, parents and carers, teachers, and the other dedicated staff who work in our schools do so well rested and eager for what’s to come this year.
