Corporate parenting

Edinburgh Champions Board

The board works with care experienced young people and children to get their views about the care system and make positive changes. They work with key decision-makers and use their experiences to improve the system.

"We are part of a community where we are seen, valued and loved. We meet every two weeks to have dinner, chat and work on issues that are important to us. We get creative, have fun, even when dealing with important issues, and support each other to achive our goals."

What we do

  • we make friends with people who have had similar experiences
  • we make changes to the whole care system
  • we speak to all our corporate parents and voice our opinions
  • we help shape and remake our care system
  • we do group and 1-1 work
  • we work with individuals as well as other services
  • we talk to the decision-makers and become decision-makers
  • we arrange training days for staff and outside organisations
  • we aim to uphold Edinburgh’s Promise in all the work we do
