Investing in Queensferry

We have several exciting developments planned in Queensferry and we wanted to let you know how, together, these will meet the needs of the growing population.

These improvements will support the expanding Queensferry community with

  • more school and nursery places
  • better and more travel options for daily trips to school and work
  • easier and safer access to local amenities
  • better and more public spaces and community facilities for local people.

Queensferry High Street improvements

Since we finished the first phase of work at the junction with the Loan, we have been working hard to secure funding to deliver more improvements to Queensferry’s High Street.

We now have a budget of around £3.5 million to deliver

  • a one-way road layout similar to the current temporary measures
  • more space for walking, wheeling and cycling
  • improve the environment for everyone on the High Street.

We will shortly provide more detail on the project.

We have a number of buildings and facilities in the local area, with many reaching the end of their usable life and no longer fit for purpose. Previous engagement has told us that people would like services and facilities in a more central and accessible location. We are proposing a new community hub on Burgess Road: the new Queensferry Community Campus.

Builyeon Road primary school and nursery

A new primary and nursery school is planned within the Builyeon Road housing development site, creating a new catchment to cope with the rising population. The existing school infrastructure is not large enough to accommodate expected pupil numbers in the future.

In September 2023, we asked the community to share their views on building a new primary and nursery school within the Builyeon Road development. You told us you were in favour of a new school and the preferred option was approved by councillors in February 2024.

Read more about what you told us in the 2023 consultation.

The new school will be a community resource for both children and adults. We are interested to know how different areas of the school and site could be used by everyone in the community.

Share your ideas for how we can use this valuable community space.

The Builyeon Road area is key to developments and improvements across the town and proposals include

  • a new linear park, walking, wheeling and cycling route with connections to the new primary school
  • improvements to help pedestrians and people on bikes cross the busy Echline interchange
  • new and improved pedestrian crossing points and protected cycle tracks at Ferry Muir Road
  • traffic calming, new pedestrian crossing points and protected cycle tracks at Scotstoun Avenue
  • improvements for pedestrians around Viewforth Road and Incholm Terrace
