Improving Edinburgh neighbourhoods

Our vision

It is estimated that the MTIS pilot project of repairs and maintenance will cost around £30m between 2022 and 2024, of which the Council is planning to invest over £20m and the other owners of the homes contributing the remaining £10m towards the overall cost of the work. Our service is initially working with private owners and Council tenants to organise work on 180 blocks in the Wester Hailes neighbourhood. This work will be carried out in a number of phases over the next three years. Additionally, in March 2022, the Council approved the expansion of this service to carry out similar programmes of work across the Council area where there are similar difficulties in carrying out essential repairs and maintenance. This expansion of the service is currently under development and we will be in contact with homeowners when the service is coming to your area.

Restoring the buildings in these areas to a good state of repair will benefit residents by making their homes warmer and more comfortable, while improving the look of the overall environment. Better kept neighbourhoods will also improve the quality of life of people living there.
