Princes Street closure
Princes Street is expected to reopen to pedestrians and road users on Saturday 29 August, following a major fire at the former Debenham’s building in July.
Structural steelwork is now supporting the front façade of the building and subject to successful testing overnight on Friday, trams will run their full route from the Airport to Newhaven and all city centre bus diversions will end.
One lane of the eastbound carriageway will be used as a temporary pedestrian walkway while work continues on site.
Thank you for your patience and understanding while we made the damaged building safe for pedestrians and vehicles to travel past it.
