Applying for Firework Control Zones
Applications for Firework Control Zones (FCZ) for 2026 are now closed.
Firework Control Zones can help reduce noise, stress, littering and antisocial behaviour caused by fireworks. They can be considered for
- misuse of fireworks/injuries
- impact on vulnerable groups
- environmental protection
- animal welfare.
A community is any group of people who feel they have something in common. In many cases they may live in the same area. A community request cannot be made by one person. Examples of communities are
- community councils
- resident groups
- stakeholders within the local community.
FCZs are for private spaces such as gardens or land managed by a community centre management committee. FCZs limit using fireworks on that land for a specific period of time. Firework displays on public spaces are covered by different legislation.
We will rigorously assess and evaluate all applications with the fire and police services. We will then consult with residents on any proposed Firework Control Zones in spring 2026.
