North Edinburgh Connections

How we've engaged with the community so far

Previously under the title of NEAT Connections, we have been working with a network of community organisations in north Edinburgh called R2.

These organisations run events and activities to support people to get out and about in the area.

Building on the local expertise and experience of the community, this partnership with R2 provides us with valuable feedback on improvements the community would like to see.

If you are interested in finding out more go the NEAT Community website.

In 2023, we spoke to pupils in the local primary schools and Craigroyston Community High School to understand what would make it easier for them to get around and spend time in the area.

Their feedback helped us shape the designs.

In February 2021 we asked the community about

  • how and why they travel
  • how they use the area
  • what they like and dislike about the area
  • what can be improved.

We collected more than 500 comments which helped us understand what people would like to change.

You can see all of these responses on the Commonplace website

We have also carried out an Integrated Impact Assessment for the project which helps us consider the different needs of everyone in the community when making decisions and developing the designs.
