Plan ahead if visting the city centre
The Old Town and surrounding streets are expected to be extremely busy as people gather to watch the Royal Mile processsion and ceremony on Wednesday 5 July 2023.
If you are planning to attend
- Public transport will be very busy so plan your journey in advance
- Allow plenty of time to get there as there will be limited space on pavements along the Royal Mile (access to key areas may be restricted for safety reasons)
- Be prepared to stand for a number of hours in changeable weather
There will be road closures and parking restrictions around the Old Town, so please avoid driving into the city centre.
Volunteer Marshalls
Volunteer marshalls will be at the event arena to provide a friendly welcome and help with directions.
Accessible viewing area
There will be an accessible viewing area outside the Scottish Parliament building, on the corner of Horse Wynd and Canongate. The nearest drop off zone to the accessible viewing area is on Regent Road.
