Pentland District Scout Council (Bore Stane Explorer Scout Unit)
Awarded £3196 to purchase a mess tent and a patrol tent.
The Bore Stane Explore Scout Unit has 41 young people who utilise the outdoors for personal development opportunities and learning how to positively contribute to society.
The mess tent has particular significance in that it has improved the range and reliability of outdoor activities on offer, it is able to be used as a base for pioneering, backwoods cooking, bivouacking and more. Since purchased, the mess tent has been used by Explorers, Scouts and Cubs from the local area, with one leader commenting “we couldn’t have run the camp without it”. The mess tent was used at a Cub camp at Bonaly in June 2025, at a Scout camp at Auchengillan in September 2025 and at an Explorer camp at Moy Estate in October 2025.
The patrol tent has a capacity of six young people, increasing the spaces available at camps. The patrol tent was used at an Explorer camp in Ford, Northumberland in August 2025. The unit look forward to continuing to use this equipment for many years to come.
