The Equally Safe Edinburgh Committee (ESEC) is a partnership between organisations which work to put into practice the Scottish Government’s and Conventions of Scottish Local Authorities’ (COSLA) Equally Safe Strategy across Edinburgh.
We make sure services are always learning about how best to support and protect women and girls from abuse, violence and inequality. We provide public information on how to uphold the rights of women and girls.
Every year we work together to organise events and activities during the 16 days campaign, between 25 November and 10 December. In 2025, our local theme was ‘Gender based abuse, violence and exploitation in the lives of children and young people’.
As the campaign is now completed, we will refresh this page again when our 2026 campaign is ready. Until then, you can
- download the resources we created based on the campaign
- watch a recording of the session: Bittersweet 16: Abuse and violence in children's and young people's relationships
- watch a recording of the session: Online Misogyny, Incel Culture and Pornography
- watch a recording of the session: Better Memories From now on: Supporting Babies and children living with domestic abuse.
If you are, or have been, affected by those issues and would like to access support, please check our support for people who are experiencing or who have experienced abuse.
