Contact Social Care Direct to request a review.

Savings and investments below £35,000

You must ask for a review if you do not own a property and your savings and investments approaches £35,000. We will ask you to complete a new assessment form giving details of your savings and investments from the time you went into the care home. You must include copies of bank and building society statements along with copies of payments to the care home. We will assist you with your care home charges from an agreed date if we are satisfied that you have spent the money on care home charges.

We will pay the care home charges and you will be expected to pay the assessed charge. If you are in a more expensive home that does not accept our standard rates then you may have to move to a different home or you will need someone who is willing to pay the extra costs. If we are not satisfied that you have used the the money to pay care home charges then we will investigate.

We must give the care home four weeks notice of a change in funding.
