Edinburgh Home Demonstrator
Visual of housing demonstrator
We are working on the Edinburgh Home Demonstrator, a new project to demonstrate the effectiveness of homes designed and constructed to net zero carbon. We will use Modern Methods of Construction (MMC). MMC uses technology, new materials and contemporary on-site building techniques to improve efficiency and quality in buildings.
This work is in collaboration with
- Scottish Government
- Scottish Futures Trust
- Off Site Solutions Scotland
- Edinburgh Napier University
- Construction Scotland Innovation Centre.
The site we are using for this demonstrator sits within the heart of Granton Waterfront, at the rear of the station building on Waterfront Broadway. The site will deliver around 75 social and mid-market rent homes as well as commercial space.
A planning application has been submitted for the provision of 75 homes and three commercial units. Once the homes are completed and occupied, they will also be monitored to measure the effectiveness of the trial and help inform future housing projects.
