Other ways to pay Council Tax

Pay by phone, at the Post Office, or at a PayPoint

If you cannot pay your Council tax online or by direct debit, there are other options you can use.

Pay by phone

Use our 24 hour payment line number and select option 1 for Council Tax.

0800 783 1719

Before you call, make sure you have

  • your 11 digit Council Tax account number from the top right hand side of your bill
  • your debit card details.

We can not take credit card payments by phone.

Pay at the Post Office or PayPoint

You can pay at any Post Office or PayPoint outlet, free of charge.

If you want to pay by this method, please contact us to ask for a payment card. It will show your name and Council tax account number, and it will last for several years. You need it to let the shop or Post Office know which account you are paying into.
