The Wash House - Warm and Welcome Space

Thursdays 10am to Midday

Come along to our warm space at the Wash House.  Each week we will open a cosy room and welcome everyone in for tea, coffee, biscuits and chat.

All welcome and completely free.

Scottish Highland Dancing -  every fortnight from 10:30am to midday

RNIB Café - Monday to Friday from 10am to 3:30pm

Craft class - Every Thursday 10.30am to 12.30pm in the RNIB Basement

Dominos Group - Every Friday 1:30pm to 3pm, in the RNIB Café small charge £2.50 for Tea and biscuits served during the break

Free events and activities for all the family with snacks and refreshments provided.

Craigmillar Library

Friday 24 March 12 noon to 4pm

the event will enclude, musical workshops, art workshop, seed sowing, face painting and badgemaking, community support and advice and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service

Wester Hailes Library

Wednesday 5 April 11am to 4pm

The event will enclude, Bookbug at 11am (no need to book), Community information, family support and advice, Citizens Advice Edinburgh, Children’s arts and crafts, Library scavenger hunt, Drumming and percussion workshop (contact the library to book) and Creative writing workshop (contact the library to book)

Tea, coffee and refreshments will be available at both events

Activities across the city for older people

Board Games - Meadowbank Sports Centre

Our Ageing Well volunteers will meet you at the cafe and introduce you to new games and new friends. You are welcome to bring a game along with you, but not a requirement to join in the fun. No need to sign up, just come along and give it a try!

Singing - Christ Church, Morningside

Join the fun and sing like no one is listening! No auditions, previous experience or music reading skills required, just come along, and join us for a sing song.

New Age Indoor Kurling - Meadowbank Sports Cent

A form of the original curling game but adapted so that it can be played on any smooth, flat surface, rather than on ice. This activity is suitable for all abilities and can be played from a standing or seated position.

Buddy Swimming - Glenogle Swim Centre, Royal Commonwealth Pool, Drumbrae Swim Centre

Buddy Swimming is for older adults who would like to swim but who have either lost their confidence, or perhaps due to ill health, are no longer able to swim on their own. Ageing Well volunteers lead the session.

Dancing - Newhaven Church

Our dance classes are a fun and social way to keep fit and active. Sessions are led by a qualified Dance Instructor and supported by Ageing Well volunteers.

Scottish Storytelling centre - Easy Sundays

Monthly (second Sunday of the month) 12 noon to 3pm

Easy Sundays is a monthly session of stories, music, community and friendship, where warm welcome awaits with a variety of activities for all the family to enjoy. So, come find a space to relax amongst friends, old and new, or take part in our rolling programme of events throughout the day, whatever the mood takes you.

All sessions are free to attend, but some events may require advance booking.

Supported by the Thrive Network alongside the Scottish Storytelling Centre to create a warm and welcoming space for the community

Kirkliston library Events

Cosy Corner

Tuesdays 10am to 1pm and Wednesdays 1pm to 4pm starting 6 December. Enjoy a tea/coffee and meet other people. We’ll have jigsaws, board games and colouring in books available for you to enjoy, or just sit and read a book or you can read a digital newspaper or magazine on our iPad.

Pilton Equalities Project

  • The Neighbourhood Group 

Every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 10.30am to 2.30pm - A day-care service for adults with mental health issues and/or learning disabilities in North West Edinburgh. A full lunch is provided.

  • Older People’s Lunch Clubs

Every Monday 12pm to 3pm, Friday 10am to 1pm, Saturday 11am to 4pm, and Sunday 12pm to 4pm - Lunch clubs providing a full lunch and a range of social activities. Minibus transport is available.
