Switch to paperless Council Tax bills

What you need to do

  1. Sign in or register with mygovscot myaccount
    • Already have an account? You'll be able to sign in with your email address.
    • New to mygovscot myaccount? Enter your email address and you'll get the option to register.
  2. Enter your Council Tax account number
  3. Set up your paperless account
    • Make sure to select 'yes' for paperless billing.
    • You'll receive a confirmation when everything's completed.

This is the system we use for online Council Tax and other council services. Lots of Edinburgh residents already use it for accessing our online services.

Council Tax reminder notices

  • Paperless reminders are being introduced from 21 August 2026
  • Citizens who have a paperless account on this date will have this new service added
  • When you sign up for paperless billing it will also include paperless reminders

Need a paper copy?

You can download and print a copy of your bill from your online account whenever you need one.
