Edinburgh Visitor Economy Investment Fund

How to apply

Applications for the Edinburgh Visitor Economy Improvement Fund (EVEIF) are now open until Friday 2 October.

You must submit your application online through our consultation hub

EVEIF is a competitive fund, which means applications will be assessed against the published eligibility and assessment criteria and ranked according to their overall score. Funding will be allocated to eligible projects in order of score until the available annual budget has been committed.

You should make sure your project:

  • meets the eligibility criteria for the relevant funding strand
  • demonstrates a clear need or opportunity
  • represents a new, enhanced or collaborative activity that would not otherwise be delivered, or would be significantly reduced, without fund support
  • has a clear and realistic delivery plan
  • demonstrates measurable benefits for businesses, visitors and/or accessibility and inclusion
  • provides clear and measurable outputs and outcomes.

How we will assess applications

Applications will be assessed through a competitive process by an assessment panel made up of Council officers and industry representatives.

Each application will be scored against the relevant assessment criteria on a scale of 1 to 5.

For an application to be eligible for funding, it must achieve a minimum weighted score of 3.0. In addition, a minimum score of 3 is required for the key impact criteria relevant to the funding strand.

Eligible applications that meet the required thresholds will then be ranked by score. Funding will be allocated in order of ranking until the annual budget is fully committed.

Where demand exceeds the available funding, priority may be given to projects that demonstrate:

  • strong collaboration
  • wider benefits for Edinburgh’s visitor economy
  • alignment with the Edinburgh Tourism Strategy 2030 and Edinburgh Visitor Levy priorities, including sustainability and accessibility
  • clear, measurable and lasting impact.

All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application and will receive feedback.

Conditions applying to successful applicants

Successful applicants will be required to accept our standard grant conditions and reporting requirements.

You will also need to submit a completion report with

  • outputs
  • outcomes
  • evidence of delivery.
