About this project
Work to significantly improve the condition of the road and drainage on St Mary's Street is due to begin on 21 September and is expected to last for up to six months.
The work will include:
- replacing the setts (similar to cobbles) on the road
- improving the crossing point for pedestrians at Boyd's Entry
- improvements to drainage
- kerb and pavement improvements
- removal of unused infrastructure on pavements eg signs
- road markings.
Traffic management and access
During the work there will be no through traffic for vehicles but access for vehicles, pedestrians, residents, businesses and deliveries will be maintained. The work will be done in three phases with temporary traffic management measures in place during each phase, these may include:
- temporary road closures or lane restrictions
- diversions
- temporary parking suspensions
- changes to pedestrian routes.
We understand that the work may cause some inconvenience, including increased noise, dust, and delays, and we will work to minimise disruption as much as possible.
